Giving Employees the Tools to Strive

Helping employees to do their jobs better, learn new things and understand the industry are just some of the many facets of PRMG University.  We are responsible for internal and external training of staff and customers.  The PRMG University training team consists of Nora Duncan, Danielle Ott and Alexis Smialkowski, who host and provide trainings throughout each month, as well as oversee PRMG’s Orientation and Branch Manager University (BMU).

PRMG’s Orientation gives new staff members the opportunity to get to know key players at PRMG.  Our team coordinates the invitations, schedules and is the primary point of contact for the orientation process. 

We host the day one orientation that all new team members are required to attend.  We, along with IT (for FT360 courses) and Marketing (for Marketing courses), host additional trainings the rest of the orientation week for specific job roles.  PRMG University also coordinates the monthly BMU, which is designed to give a new retail branch manager the tools necessary to be successful at PRMG.  BMU provides the branch managers a chance to really connect with corporate staff members they will be dealing with on a regular basis and gain a thorough understanding as to the process and procedures of running a successful branch at PRMG.

Other monthly training classes are primarily offered via webinar to be able to accommodate our staff and customers across the nation.  However, PRMG has a state of the art training facility at our corporate location where we host live trainings as well.  PRMG University coordinates annual NMLS continuing education training for Loan Officers and Brokers.  Our team has partnered with our approved Mortgage Insurance companies to offer training that is provided exclusively for our staff and customers.

Since spring of 2015, we have seen the department grow from just a single trainer to four team members who are dedicated to the success of all of our PRMG employees.  Starting with ensuring all new employees understand PRMG’s vision of excellence from their orientation experience to providing trainings to allow them to enhance their careers, PRMG University makes every effort to see our team members flourish.  We also handle the PRMG411/PRMG911 support service, which is designed to assist new hires navigate during their initial time at PRMG, helping to make the transition smooth.

By summer of 2015, we began publishing a monthly calendar of available training classes which we continue to increase and fine-tune the class offerings.  Many of these classes are also available to our Brokers and Correspondents, helping them grow in their knowledge and become better in their field, and hopefully, loyal partners with PRMG. We have recently begun creating training videos that can be found on the PRMG University YouTube channel.  These videos allow for on-demand learning and repeated viewing.  We intend to continue to create training material this way and expand our library of training videos.

We also understand the importance of peer training and have offered specific courses presented by senior level co-workers on relevant job related topics.  This allows our staff to hear directly from other team members in the trenches as to how they do things and what works best for them.  

To ensure our staff and customers stay abreast of relevant industry changes, PRMG University offers training on these topics, such as the recent HUD 4000.1 handbook release, Fannie Mae’s Collateral Underwriter and Fannie Mae’s recent self-employment changes.  Additionally, in conjunction with our Compliance department, PRMG University has offered training on TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures (TRID) and Qualified Mortgages (QM).

PRMG University, in conjunction with our IT team, is spearheading a process to find a Learning Management System (LMS) which we hope to have implemented by the end of the year.  This is a software program that allows for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of e-learning courses and training programs.  By offering this service, we can enroll staff members in mandatory Compliance trainings as well as allow staff to follow a path of training to enrich their careers at PRMG.  

One of the things I appreciate about PRMG is that this is a company that is dedicated to giving the employees the tools needed to help us thrive.  By investing in a new loan origination system, which is going to set us up with the ability to grow so that we can reach our $1 Billion per month goal, to investing in the training resources (both staffing and systems) to help our staff be successful, PRMG has shown they are committed to their employees, the industry and this organization.
